The Schoolism House FAQ
Will I have my own room?
Yes, all four students will have their own separate rooms with bed and furniture included.
How much is the cost for the room?
Your Schoolism House fee includes your accommodations.
Will I need to bring any art materials?
No, art materials including pencils, brushes, paint, sketchbook, and notebook will be provided. However, you are welcome to bring your own supplies if you wish.
Will I need to pay for my own food?
Your stay at the Schoolism House includes 3 meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
What is the difference between Schoolism, Schoolism LIVE, and the Schoolism House?
Schoolism is an online art school where you can learn various artistic disciplines from many instructors through pre-recorded video lectures. Schoolism LIVE are our live workshops which are held in cities around the world. These usually feature 4 to 6 instructors and take place over a weekend. The Schoolism House is a separate residential atelier studio outside beautiful Montreal, Canada, which has been specially designed to train new artists in the Schoolism environment. The Schoolism House accepts only 4 students at a time and each session runs for 30 days.
Do I need to bring my own laptop and/or graphic tablet?
No, individual computers and graphic tablets will be available for you to use at the Schoolism House. However, if you'd like to bring your own laptop and/or graphic tablet, you're welcome to.
What will the weekly schedule be like?
From Monday to Friday, you will receive daily lectures, homework, feedback, and personal tutoring. You will work alongside Thierry Lafontaine, asking him questions, and receiving his help on your art throughout the day. On the weekend, there will be field trips.
Is there a minimum skill level required to attend the Schoolism House?
Because the instruction that you receive will be tailored to your individual strengths and weaknesses, students of all skill levels are welcome. Attendees must be 19 years old and over.
Are international students eligible to register for the Schoolism House?
Yes, international students are more than welcome to come stay at the Schoolism House!
Where is the Schoolism House located?
The Schoolism House is located on the shore of a lake in Ste-Julienne outside of Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Do I need a visa to come to Canada?
According to Immigration Canada, you do not need a study permit (student visa) if you plan to take a course or program in Canada that lasts six months or less. However, depending on which country you're from, it might be necessary for you to get a tourist visa to enter Canada. It is your responsibility to verify if you require a visa to visit Canada and to acquire it if necessary. You can find all the information you need at Immigration Canada: http://www.cic.gc.ca
Do I need Health Insurance?
Yes, you MUST get travel insurance to attend the Schoolism House and you MUST provide proof of insurance to secure your spot. If you are Canadian, you will be asked to provide your Canadian Health Card information upon payment.
How do I get from the airport to the Schoolism House?
We provide transportation from and to the airport (Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport in Montreal) on the days of your arrival and departure.
Is airfare included in the Schoolism House fee?
No, unfortunately the Schoolism House fee does not include airfare. You will be responsible for booking and paying for your flight to Montreal. In most cases, you will arrive at Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport in Montreal (airport code YUL).
Should I book my flight for the exact dates of the workshop?
Yes. The first and last days of the workshop are the arrival and departure days. There is nothing planned on these days besides picking up and dropping off students from and to the airport.
