Michael Defeo

Michael Defeo started his art career in prosthetic makeup design and stop-motion puppet creation in the late 1980's for several major New York production houses such as Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Disney. From there, he worked on "The Lion King", "Beauty and the Beast", and other major Broadway shows designing and producing makeup and props for six years before calling Blue Sky Studios his home for the next 15 years.

As the head of Blue Sky's 3D Modeling and Sculpture Departments, Michael was a key force in character design, sculpting, modeler management, and visual design for such feature films as the "Ice Age" series, "Robots", "Horton Hears a Who", and "Rio" among others.

Michael left Blue Sky in 2010 to live out his dream of being an independent 3D character development artist living the good life in Paris, France. You can see more of his work at
