Lesson 1 - Visualizing Through Darkness
I will begin by discussing how I set up my workspace so I can paint most effectively and familiarizing you with the Photoshop tools that we will use in the rest of the course. The first technique you will learn is how to paint a grey scale painting effectively by "visualizing through darkness". There is also an overview of all the tools and functions you will need for this first class.
Lesson 2 - Colorizing from Black & White
This lesson covers effective ways to color an image from black and white. You will learn about the most effective blend modes for colorizing. You will learn to adjust hue, saturation, color and how to automate procedures using "actions."
Lesson 3 - Textures Part 1
In this lesson, I will teach you how to use naturalistic textures to create "traditional looking" images. You will learn how to manipulate textures and make them into seamless patterns, which you can then use to create illustrations.
Lesson 4 - Textures Part 2
In this lesson, you will learn how to use photo textures to accentuate images. You will learn how to find and use the textures you need and how to properly merge photo textures seamlessly with digital paintings using masks and blend modes.
Lesson 5 - The Smudge Technique
In this class you'll learn how to use the "smudge technique" using the smudge tool and brushes to transform a linear drawing into a painterly illustration.
Lesson 6 - Custom Brushes
In this lesson, I go over how I create my favorite custom brushes. Follow along and make some of your own. Learn the different functions and settings of custom brushes and how to manipulate them to suit your needs.
Lesson 7 - Vectors
Learn how vectors work and how to apply them quickly. Learn how to think in vectors and how to make and save paths.
Lesson 8 - Color Sketching
In this lesson, I will teach you how to sketch straight from colors and discuss my thought processes as I start a painting from scratch.
Lesson 9 - Color Finishing
In this lecture, I will detail my thought process as I progress from a colored rough to a finished image.
